About the Museum of Fine Arts

The Museum of Fine Arts presents a fascinating panorama of the history of painting in Europe from its beginnings in 1870.

Located on the first floor of the Rohan Palace, the museum proposes a journey through the centuries and schools.

  • Italian and Flemish Primitives (Giotto, Memling).
  • Renaissance and Mannerism (Botticelli, Raphaël, Veronese, Lucas van Leyden, El Greco).
  • Baroque, Naturalism and Classicism in the 17th and 18th centuries (Rubens, Vouet, Zurbarán, La Belle Strasbourgeoise by Largillière, Canaletto, Tiepolo, Goya).
  • 20th (Delacroix, Chassériau, Corot, Courbet).

These collections are in parallel for the Middle Ages and Renaissance in Rhineland with those in the Œuvre Notre-Dame Museum and then extend to the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
