America. Satirical Drawings by Tomi Ungerer

Tomi Ungerer lived in New York from 1957 to 1971. His sharp critique of American society and politics during this period is reflected in two major books: The Party and America.

Since holding the "Tomi Ungerer and New York" exhibition in 2001, the museum's collection has been enriched with new drawings from this period. The museum is now offering the chance to discover them and also to see again the artist's iconic drawings. New York high society, the middle classes, political leaders, the Vietnam War and racial segregation feature prominently among the many subjects tackled by Ungerer at the time in the press, posters and books.
